Do you live with someone that snores? Hours of sleep are lost every night as a result of living with someone that snores loudly. Plus, those that snore are also losing sleep.
A common sleep problem that increases snoring is sleep apnea. According to www.medicinenet.com, sleep apnea is a period of time during which breathing stops or is markedly reduced. In simplified terms, an apnea occurs when a person stops breathing for 10 seconds or more. Studies suggest that men are more likely to have obstructive sleep apnea than women before age 50. It sounds serious, and can be if ignored, but the condition is treatable.
If you have concerns about snoring and/or sleep apnea, contact your family physician. A better night’s rest – and a less intrusive one – could be a few questions away.
