Our Six Point Mattress Scale: It’s Easy to Use
Firmness Indicator
Our Comfort Scale is based on a standard 6 point scale from 1 to 6. It is important to understand that the level of comfort of a mattress has nothing to do with the actual support your back receives from the innerspring.

Comfort Levels 1–2:
If you primarily sleep on your back and can sleep comfortably on the carpeted floor without waking with aches and pains, a mattress with the Comfort Level of 1-2 is ideal for you. These mattresses feel cushioned firm to very firm.

Comfort Levels 3–4: Medium
If you have ever added a topper to your mattress, such as a foam layer or a down feather bed, a mattress with the Comfort Level of 3-4 is ideal for you. These mattresses usually have a plush or pillowtop with a not too firm not too soft feel.

Comfort Levels 5–6: Soft
If you are looking for a mattress that feels like sleeping on a cloud, but still offers firm back support, a mattress with the Comfort Level of 5-6 is ideal for you. These mattresses are the softest styles and will conform to your body the most.
